"Practice makes perfect!" I think this is correct! I am a little unique in my style because I don't think knowing ALL the names of the parts of speech, etc. is as important as knowing how to use them! If you can use a certain tense of a verb correctly, it really doesn't matter if you can remember the name of the tense or not!! (of course, knowing the names helps some people) Don't worry about making mistakes! English is a "fun, happy" language!!

Hi! I am from New Zealand and have lived in Japan since 2000. During this time I have worked as both a teacher and manager at English conversation schools. I am currently teaching English to children. When I first arrived in Japan I had a lot a lot of difficulty learning Japanese.It didn't come naturally to me, and I had never learned a language before, so I found my own ways of learning through trial and error. I believe that this process has helped me as an instructor to see things from my students' perspective. I try to get into my students' minds, so I can figure out what they really want to say, and why they say things in a certain ways. With that in mind, I then try to give the best advice I can.

子供の時は内向的で、英語の本を読みまくり、インターネットで英語を使ってセーラームーンのことについてたくさん調べて、英語をマスターできました。
日本に2011年に留学のため来て、国立大学で学部と大学院を卒業しました。バイトはいろんなことを興味津々でやって、専攻は言語学・政治学でしたので、様々な方々と、様々なことについて議論することや経験することに没頭する日々を送っていました。 外国語を勉強するということは、INPUT・OUTPUTを常に気にすることですね。
どのような言い方を英語でするのかをINPUTでしなければわかりませんし、まなんだことをどんどんOUTPUTした上でより深く理解し、確実に覚えます。興味あることについて読んだり、ビデオ見たりした時、「英語を覚えなきゃ」という意識がなくなり、自然に理解してしまうことがポイントです。

I was born in Australia, but I lived in London, UK, when I was a teenager, and I lived in Osaka, Japan, throughout my twenties. I worked at a well-known English language school where I taught English to all ages and levels, from kids right through to IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, and my own high-level business courses focused on case studies.Over the years, I've also been, an IT support technician, a tax accountant, an author, and even a truck driver! I've visited many countries, I've studied lots of different topics because I'm a very curious individual, and I've worked in lots of different industries (from taxation, to IT, to teaching, to trucking!). I also published my own novel in Jan 2020, and I'm working on translating it into Japanese for my friends there. My advise to you is to look for the INTENT in writing, not the literal definitions. When you translate, you are communicating - and that includes the intentions, not just the words. Let's practice it a lot in my lesson!

Early on, I focused on teaching local college students skills to help them succeed in their business classes, but I soon fell in love with language learning. Only a few years after I started studying Japanese, I moved to Japan and started teaching English as a second language. Learning a language is like “running a marathon.” Since it takes so long, it’s easy to get tired and want to quit.
