Hey there reader! <\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks again for reading our humble Fruitful English blog, where you get some insight into the minds and courses and of instructors here at FE. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve been following along with my exploits online, you probably remember that I had visitors last month. My family came and visited me in Japan for the first time in a long time, as COVID-19 entry restrictions have been relaxed. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u203b\u524d\u56de\u306e\u8a18\u4e8b\u300c\u3010Nic\u5148\u751f\u306e\u82f1\u8a9e\u30d6\u30ed\u30b0\u3092\u8aad\u3082\u3046\uff01\u3011Having visitors is fun but stressful! What do you do?!\u300d\u3092\u898b\u9003\u3057\u305f\u65b9\u306f\u3053\u3061\u3089\u304b\u3089\u3069\u3046\u305e\uff01<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

It was great showing them around \u2018my neck of the woods\u2019<\/strong>, as we say. If you\u2019re not familiar with this phrase, \u2018one\u2019s neck of the woods\u2019<\/strong>, means \u2018one\u2019s neighbourhood\u2019<\/strong>, or where someone lives<\/strong>. It\u2019s where they\u2019re familiar with! <\/span><\/p>\n

For example, <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>This is one of the best restaurants in my<\/strong> neck of the woods<\/strong>. I\u2019ll take you some time.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I went back to Vancouver for Christmas, which is always nice. But, it was nice giving something back to my parents, and being the host, for once! <\/span><\/p>\n

This was one of the first times I really felt like I was \u2018hosting\u2019 my family<\/strong>, because they all stayed in my house. In addition, they were relatively dependant on me. Though they had travelled to Japan before, it had been a while. So, they were a bit lost when it came to the language, as nothing here is offered in English.<\/span><\/p>\n

To be honest, they struggled a lot! Luckily, I was able to translate most of the menus (when I wasn\u2019t too annoyed!), and they also were able to use translation apps on their phone to do rough work. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u7ffb\u8a33\u30a2\u30d7\u30ea\u306f\u3001\u3001\u3001<\/h2>\n

As a spoiler, the translation apps were pretty terrible. They would give a rough idea for some things, but they often completely failed in other cases.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, there was surprising variation between the translations offered by the different apps.<\/span><\/p>\n

I won\u2019t name names, but a certain colourful tech giant definitely outperformed a certain other fruity tech giant. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u3055\u3066\u3001\u7686\u3055\u3093\u306b\u8cea\u554f\u3067\u3059\uff01<\/strong><\/h2>\n

So, all in all, it was a successful trip. But, I want to pose a question to end this blog off. <\/span><\/p>\n

Have you ever had long-term visitors to your house? In particular, was the visit crowded?<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

For example, we had 5 people living here in my relatively small Japanese house, so it made for, how should I say, intimate quarters! Of course, tempers flared a few times, but we avoided any major fires. I was surprised at my family\u2019s relative lack of acceptance of my \u2018house rules\u2019 though, so please answer my question.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have had visitors, what did you think of their visit? Were they respectful of your house?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
