It’s me Nic, again, and I’m coming to you from sunny Mexico with a huge smile on my face. Believe it or not, that smile isn’t all from being in a nice, warm country with good waves again!

No, my huge smile is from the great news coming out of Japan recently. It sounds like the Japanese border is finally on its own towards opening again, which couldn’t be more exciting for me. I’ve been waiting patiently for 2 years now to return to my favourite country and home. In fact, that reminds me of one of the oldest proverbs in the book:

         Patience is a virtue.

It’s been a tough wait, but I can completely understand the government’s reticence to open the border. Health and human life are precious, so any controls or measures to preserve it receive my complete support! But it seems like we’ve finally turned a corner, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel: my return home to Tanegashima.

This pandemic has been tough on everyone, but I’m incredibly proud to be a part of FE. I think we’ve weathered the situation very well and used it as inspiration to further the learning of students across Japan. Our new Skype courses with AI transcription wouldn’t have been possible a few years ago. Now though, they make it possible for students to review long Skype conversations in text. It’s a huge game changer. They really help students make the most of their time with native speakers, and learn much, much more than they would from a single lesson.

As good as they are though, as a teacher, nothing makes me more excited than teaching in person. Just like my experience using English in my own travels inspired me to start teaching, seeing students use English themselves inspires me to continue teaching and work harder!

A typhoon couldn’t dampen the spirits of my amazing Tanegashima English Boot Camp survivors, which makes me so excited to hold the next round. That’s not to mention having more in-person seminars and classes in Tokyo and around Japan, and boot camps in other areas of the country. Who knows? There’s no limit to where we can use English, so where will we go next. All I know is that I want to be part of your journey, having fun safely!

I’ve already wrote too much, so thanks for reading and keep your eyes glued on fruitfulenglish.com for more exciting developments and English opportunities!

Hello internet!
