It\u2019s me, your (I hope) favourite teacher on Fruitful English, back with another month\u2019s worth of musings on our wonderful little company blog!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Before I get started, I just wanted to say how great it is to be able to get in touch and share opinions with all of my amazing students. As an online teacher, it\u2019s sometimes hard to feel connected with students.<\/p>\n
Especially nowadays, there\u2019s just far less face-to-face communication going on, which is a real shame. I remember just before the whole pandemic began, I hosted my first ever Tanegashima Boot Camp in Japan, as well as some seminars in Tokyo. I can\u2019t tell you how rewarding it was to finally get to meet my students in person, and I can\u2019t overstate how excited I was for the future, and hosting more and more in-person events in Japan. Well, the rest is history as you all know!<\/p>\n
So, this blog is a great outlet for students, and everyone else out there whose passions run towards English, like me. Please get in touch with me and let me know your thoughts on the blog, or what you’re doing with your English nowadays. Don\u2019t forget that humans are a social species and reaching out to others is important for your mental health.<\/p>\n

Speaking of reaching out and getting in touch with me, the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics came to a close this month, and one of my students really summed up the spirit of the event.<\/p>\n
I couldn’t have said it any better, so I\u2019ll just paraphrase their thoughts. Unlike the Olympics, the Paralympics are still pure, and untouched by commercialism and all sorts of other superfluous aspects of sport. Instead, it was easy to appreciate the athletic, dedication and skill of the Paralympic athletes themselves, rather than getting caught up in everything else the Games seem to bring, like medal counts, COVID-19 controversies, and the like.<\/p>\n
It was, in a few words, refreshing and inspiring. I really hope that everyone out there got a change to watch at least a little of the Paralympics, and they appreciated just how dedicated and talented the athletes were. It\u2019s a privilege to watch such a pure display of sport, unsullied by the outside.<\/p>\n
Oh no! I just realised I\u2019m running out of space here, so I\u2019ll have to cut it short. I\u2019ve been waxing poetic on the Paralympics, and I didn’t even get to my diversity phrase this time! That\u2019s ok!
