This is Beth to say HI and give a few hints on how to use the two short but confusing words:<\/p>\n
“until”<\/strong> and “by”!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n These words have been brought up before(maybe more than once), but a lot of Japanese people seem to still be confused about how to use them correctly!\u00a0 Let me give you some quick pointers!\u00a0 Ready?<\/p>\n With this word, something is being done or not being done!<\/p>\n For example:<\/p>\n *”He worked until five o’clock!”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\uff15\u6642\u307e\u3067\u4ed5\u4e8b\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n ***He did something until a certain time. Maybe he finished everything, or maybe he didn’t.\u00a0 All we know is that he stopped at 5:00!<\/p>\n *”I won’t go shopping till the rain stops!”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u96e8\u304c\u4e0a\u304c\u308b\u307e\u3067\u306f\u8cb7\u3044\u7269\u306b\u884c\u304d\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n ***This person won’t go until another something happens(rain stops)!\u00a0 We have no idea when this will be!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This word tells us something was or will be finished!<\/p>\n For example:<\/p>\n *”She finished her report by five o’clock!”\u3000\u3000\uff15\u6642\u307e\u3067\u306b\u30ec\u30dd\u30fc\u30c8\u3092\u5b8c\u6210\u3055\u305b\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/p>\n ***This one actually tells us something was finished!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Notice the Japanese uses \uff0e\uff0e\uff0e\u307e\u3067\u306b!\u3002<\/p>\n *\u00a0“I must be at work by 8:00!”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \uff18\u6642\u307e\u3067\u306b\u51fa\u793e\u3057\u306a\u3044\u3068\u3044\u3051\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<\/p>\n ***We have a limit!\u00a0 If we arrive after this time, we are late to work!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u2488 \u5b50\u4f9b\u305f\u3061\u304c\u5e30\u3063\u3066\u6765\u308b\u307e\u3067\u663c\u5bdd\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n \u2489 \u660e\u65e5\u307e\u3067\u306b\u8fd4\u4e8b\u304c\u5fc5\u8981\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Did you get the correct answers?<\/p>\n Possible\u00a0answers are:<\/p>\n 1.\u00a0 I’m going to nap till the kids get home!<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0 A reply is needed by tomorrow!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Hi guys!
