The only clue to choosing the right pronunciation is to understand the context of the writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"s1\">\u3082\u3063\u3068\u3082\u3088\u304f\u76ee\u306b\u3059\u308b\u540c\u5f62\u7570\u7fa9\u8a9e<\/span>\u306e<span class=\"s1\">\u201ctear\u201d \u3068 \u201cbow\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two commonly known homographs are \u201ctear\u201d and \u201cbow\u201d. Their pronunciations and meanings are as follows: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">TEAR<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201ct-air\u201d: to rip<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201ct-ear\u201d: to cry<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">BOW<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cb-au\u201d: to nod\/lower one\u2019s head (when greeting to show respect)<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cb-ou\u201d: a weapon commonly used for shooting arrows<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cb-ou\u201d: decorative ribbon<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Even I sometimes pronounce homographs incorrectly at the first reading. For example, I may pronounce \u201ctear\u201d as \u201ct-ear\u201d because I come across the meaning \u201cto cry\u201d more often. On the other hand, I may pronounce, \u201cbow\u201d as \u201cb-ou\u201d since I love crafting and work with ribbons and bows a lot more. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>\u307e\u3060\u307e\u3060\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\uff01\u4ed6\u306e\u4f8b\u3082\u898b\u3066\u307f\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\uff01<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Other homographs include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">LEAD<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cl-ad\u201d: a kind of metal<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cl-eed: be at the front showing something\/someone the way, guide<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">WIND<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cw-ind\u201d: moving air<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cw-aind\u201d: to turn something (usually in a circular motion)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">MINUTE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cmin-it\u201d: a period of time<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cmai-nyut\u201d: extremely small or tiny<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Have you come across other homographs in your daily lives that aren\u2019t listed here?
