Hi, everyone! It’s Nic! This hardest thing about doing something is getting started! My favorite quote on this topic is by the famed Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu. It goes something like this:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The journey of a thousand miles\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>begins<\/span><\/span><\/strong> \u00a0with a single step.”<\/span><\/span><\/em> – Lao Tzu<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In addition, it can be tough to continue walking that road as well!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, you can conquer English and have fun doing it with just a few simple steps.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Psychologists agree that having a <\/span><\/span>routine<\/span><\/span><\/strong> is an essential part of maintaining motivation, so I’m going to share my routine for studying Japanese, and hopefully you can get some ideas for your own English journey!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

First, decide what time you are most productive. There are 24 hours in a day, and I’m sure that you know when you work best. Are you a \u2018morning person\u2019 (someone who is most productive in the morning)? Do you always feel great when you wake up, and feel like you can accomplish anything before noon? Or, are you a \u2018night owl\u2019(someone who loves working late when it\u2019s dark outside, and everyone else is asleep)? Or, maybe you\u2019re like me; I am always lazy in the morning, but after breakfast I’m full of energy and ready to do anything! Then, I’m quite tired in the evening. So, I guess you could say I’m an \u2018afternoon person\u2019!<\/p>\n

After you’ve thought about when your most productive time is, now it’s time to use that time efficiently.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I’m productive in the afternoons. So, I study Japanese right after breakfast, and BEFORE doing anything else! No matter how busy I am, I set aside 30 minutes or so for some kind of studying. On Fruitful English, our English Caf\u00e9 is open 24-hours a day, so you can log in and study whenever is best for you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For example, one day I might focus on learning Kanji, then I might focus on vocabulary or reading the next day. By always doing something new, you can stay interested and stay motivated! We have such a wide range of activities on Fruitful English, from diaries to recording assignments, that you’ll never get bored!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
