Hello! It’s Rodd here,<\/p>\n

In English we often use the expression “from A to B”<\/strong> which means going or getting from one place to another when it’s not so important which two places you travel between. While in Japan, I had many cars – most of them sports cars. For years I would drive everywhere, because I loved to drive and I would rather not take the crowded trains – especially in the winter when everyone seemed to have a cold. Then I moved to Thailand about four years ago. I thought I would get a car here too; the roads are good and it is a big country. However, I have not once missed having a car. \u00a0This is because “getting from A to B” is super easy and super cheap. Here’s why…<\/p>\n\"\"\n

These Hilux trucks are everywhere. I can go for many kilometres for just 30 yen! I can get on and off anywhere I please by waving one down or pushing a buzzer button on the back – the cheapest way of “getting from A to B”.<\/p>\n

Motorbike taxi<\/h2>\n\"\"\n

These handy bikes are on almost every corner. \u00a0Even if one is a few blocks away, just raise your hand and wave. \u00a0They will come pick you up. \u00a0It is good way to get around, because it is fast and beats the traffic – this would make it the speediest and most fun way of “getting from A to B”.<\/p>\n

Buses travel everywhere in Thailand. Whenever I travel between cities, I take one. \u00a0They are comfortable and drive at motorway speeds. It costs about 300 yen to go 300km in distance! This is the cheapest long-distance way of “getting from A to B”.<\/p>\n

These are everywhere and when you head out into the countryside, anybody will give you a ride – just pay them a small amount to say thanks – this would be a way of hitch-hiking “getting from A to B”!<\/p>\n

Scenes like this are common. \u00a0Sometimes you see two parents and three kids on a bike or four friends on a bike. \u00a0When I say “sans” this means “without” the sidecar, and is a bit like a circus balancing act. \u00a0I have often go like this with my friends and my wife all on the same bike.
