Hello, It’s Rodd here,<\/p>\n

The monsoon has finished here in Thailand, so no more rain for about three or four months.\u00a0 <\/span>It will be dry as a bone.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cDry as a bone\u201d is an idiom, which means \u201ccompletely dry\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span>Idioms are one of the most important aspects of the native English language.\u00a0 They are used every single day by all native speakers and they are even used in the news!<\/p>\n

An idiom is an expression whose meaning is not predictable from the usual literal meanings.\u00a0 I have highlighted some below for you.\u00a0 See if you can guess what they mean….<\/p>\n

Speaking of dry as a bone, when it is not the dry season and it is the monsoon season, 1<\/sup>it rains cats and dogs<\/strong><\/em>!\u00a0 <\/span>It absolutely buckets down<\/strong><\/em>! Then it stops after an hour or so and it\u2019s sunny and warm again.<\/p>\n

Once the rain is gone, we can step outside and 2<\/sup>hit the market<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 <\/span>In the market, there are many things we can buy.\u00a0 <\/span>We like to go there because it is as 3<\/sup>cheap as chips<\/strong><\/em>, however sometimes we can\u2019t go, as we quite often 4<\/sup>have a lot on on our plates.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another thing we like to do when we are not busy, is take a walk and 5<\/sup>jump on the beach<\/strong><\/em>, sit down,\u00a06<\/sup>crack a book<\/strong><\/em>, and 7<\/sup>have a quiet one<\/strong><\/em>, which to me is 8<\/sup>the icing on the cake<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\"\"\n

Sometimes though, I will drink too much beer and end up going out.\u00a0 <\/span>It gets late, then Sky(my wife) 10<\/sup>gives me a ring<\/strong><\/em>, at which point I know 11<\/sup>I\u2019m in hot water<\/strong><\/em>. 11<\/sup>\u201cHold your horses<\/strong><\/em>!\u201d I say then buy another beer. No worries though, I will just say something sweet when I get home and she will forgive me – 12<\/sup>a piece of cake<\/strong><\/em>!<\/p>\n\"\"\n
